Really disappointed to see Jessie Ware's new fantastic album debuting at 3....though is a good position, she highly deserved the number one!! Who the f....are The National Lottery????.......

I think your last remark was unnecessary, The Lottery Winners (Who have been very popular at Glastonbury in past years) have been a community favourite during the week by showing their support at the band's temporary pop-up shop at Spinning Gate shopping centre this week.
After all, it was selling like hot cakes at my local record shop with numerous vinyl pressings!

I didn't know who they were until last Sunday

Case proved - OCC Album Chart is meaningless. Last week's no. 2 (a severely limited edition album: The 1975 Live with BBC Phil Orch) has vanished without trace. Why? Because it didn't exist beyond ONE retailer.

The album chart now joins the farcical singles chart as a complete irrelevance. Who gives a if say,...ABBA GOLD spends another 200,000 weeks on the album chart ? it's rigged in their favour. Shunt it off to the compilation chart with all the other old fartz and give some new younger bands a chance.

Lottery Winners have made an underdog story!
Wowzers, never thought that was coming...But then again, their last album did peak almost at the Top 10 (11th)! *Edited due to incorrect stat*
I honestly thought Jessie Ware would've been crowned.

I thought it too...Jessie really deserved it

I think we'll all be needing 'Anxiety Replacement Therapy' the longer the OCC insist on allowing tiresome old fartz like Elton John ABBA and Fleetwood Mac to clog up the charts week after week after week.. 😴😴😴😴. PLEASE shunt these best of albums onto the compilation chart FFS!!

The OCC cannot control what people are buying and placing these compilation albums into any different chart is not fair. These charts must represent what the people are buying. But hey, Don't worry, they won't last long- give or take another decade.

Thanks for your reply but I disagree I think it's perfectly fair to place say, ABBA gold in a compilation chart as it would allow exciting new acts some much needed publicity by freeing up more spaces for them to chart and therefore gain more exposure. ABBA GOLD is a very good example of an old act setting up a guaranteed residency on the album chart for decades to come due to the constant showings of their mamma Mia films on ITV, the priceless exposure of an upcoming ABBA themed 'talent' show on ITV this autumn and a 3rd!!😩😩Mamma Mia film in the pipeline. Surely OCC should be promoting the FUTURE of music not the PAST?? Have a great day.

Your argument is not valid. I don't see how older acts are stopping new acts from charting on the charts. You're being rather silly. There are 100 positions on the UK Album Charts, and if a new exciting act cannot occupy one of them, then maybe, just maybe it's cos they are not as exciting as you think they are.

Your reply is not valid because you are not LISTENING to what I'm saying. You are being rather silly, maybe it's a cognitive issue? Anyway I'm bored with this now. Have a good evening.

But I am listening unlike the people who are not listening to your exciting new acts that are nowhere to be seen on these charts, but hey Abba will always be here if, for nothing else, but to just stick it to you. Ouch!!! U2 have a excellent evening and don't forget to watch out for abba on ITV when it premieres. BTW bet you $100 abba be back in top 10 faster than you can say we need to promote new acts.

While I have sympathy with some of your views/opinions, there is one thing that you've got COMPLETELY wrong: it is NOT, under ANY circumstances, within the OCC's remit to "promote" ANY album, single or artist. It is the job and responsibility of the OCC to ONLY report facts - which admittedly, they fail abysmally to do correctly. But "promote the future of music" ? No, that's for others, not the OCC.

Thanks for your reply Paul. You make a valid point. Have a good evening.

Thass juss wot i think n all. Give me them older acts any day rather them than the autotuners n their ilk cloggin up the charts nahadays. I love buyin them greatest its from all them different acts. Least Jessie Ware is oldin the fort for newer artists, well done to er back with another good album n autotuner she aint on ere.

It's music that stands the test of time, not like most of these younger up and coming bands you talk about, who are here today and six months from now completely irrelevant. Very few songs even stand the test of a couple of years nowadays, and it is great testimony to these bands that their sales figures are still higher than anyone you care to mention from the last few years. So pipe down mister and learn some class!

I haven't either, i wish Freya was higher though, her voice is incredible

It's a shame you haven't (Give them a chance and discover, like true music fans!), because their last album also charted very high. Never dismiss an artist that's charted well.

i find it weird that i haven’t heard of them considering i’m always on spotify, exploring far beyond the mainstream. just listened to the first few songs off that album and yeah, they’re pretty good :)
