7 years is an awful song it, has been hogging the top spot for much too long now and where is fleur east's more and more, i bet syco are gonna try the old slamming doors trick they did with ben haenow cos she has decided she wants something to do with her music now and underpromote it then blame it on her, his song didn't even get a promo youtube vid and they still blamed their lack of promotion on him, we will see

7 years is a smash, whether you like it or not. I don't particularly love it but i see the quality in the writing. That's why it's number one despite the singer looks like a baker lol. Fleur East's song flopped badly, I was surprised it flopped that much but then it's not as strong as Sax. Nowadays a flop like that and failure to make the radio 1 playlist may mean the label drops you. Harsh reality.

i know but syco make it really obvious and blame their lack of promotion on the artist, i know how the industry works but they are a very bold record company and they decide who is the biggest money maker from the start, i mean look at slamming doors by ben haenow, they cited it didn't chart when they gave it little promotion and no music video for youtube, more and more has a music video but it look's really cheap like they've decided already they are not interested, and i should imagine it is the consequence of one conversation she has had with cowell where she has said something he doesn't want to hear or disagreed with the direction he want's for her career, her album underperformed also, and yeah it is a smash but smashes usually leave the top spot rather fast as their appeal wares quickly but this is staying strangely long, epecially for a foreign group pretty much unheard of which makes the song less flattering i think personally, if someone like zayn recorded it i could understand it's longevity but noone knows these guy barely, it seems very odd

Sax wasn't a total flop. It went number 1 in Hungary's radio top 40 and the Croatian top 20.

LOL maybe it also went gold in Slovakia? It takes 3000 downloads to go gold in Slovakia, yippee! that's "gonna change your life forever" like Cowell says... :D
Anyway I wasn't talking about Sax, but about the second single. Sax did pretty well.

SYCO make their money through ad revenue mostly. Whether an artist from their show blows up or not is a bonus. They are not interested in the longevity of an artist, let alone in helping them stay at the top, in fact if the finalists only sell through the first single or album and then get dropped it can be even good cause they'll make room for the new one the following year. It is sad, of course, but labels are really only interested in money, not in "art".
Lukas Graham is a band with artist credibility, they're not from the UK and charted in their own country first, that's why it seems they blew up here out of nowhere, but the single is clearly a smash hit and it's charting also on Billboard. Labels do months of research through radio and online data to determine whether to launch a song worldwide. So the label clearly saw that this song had that potential and they launched it worldwide.

Zara Larsson is amazing and her music is incredible so I don't know what you're talking about.

Mike posner is no longer a 1 hit wonder, his new song is doing better than ''cooler than me''.

Really. Four weeks! More than greats like 'Wake Me Up'[ and 'Fireflies'. And plus, how does Hands to Myself enter but not Ain't Got Far to Go!?

I'm assuming streaming is helping to boost Hands To Myself ahead, because Ain't Got Far To Go is beating it in sales.

Well, if that's to happen, people need to keep buying copies and streaming it and... well, looking at iTunes and Spotify it's seemed to have already peaked.

Think she's talking about the new single mate "It's you"

I know, and looking at its sales on iTunes and its streams on Spotify, it's not getting anywhere near enough to become No. 1.

'It's You' is only a promotional single (for example : Wonderland by Taylor Swift was also a promo single). Therefore, it is unlikely for it to chart higher (due to minimal airplay, performances and stuff) unless it is released as a single (like Shawn Mendes's 'Stitches' which was released to iTunes as a promo single on March 16th 2015.
We might hear from it again over the next few months if it becomes a single. If not, then it might last another week before never being seen again (or scrape into the top 100 upon album release).

This is just getting ridiculous. "7 Years" really needs to leave the top spot.
