Hopefully Britney Spears can make a high debut in the coming months with slumber party (featuring Tinashe) as they are both Filming for the music video and this should probably promote the single.

I would be incredibly surprised if Britney spears does well in the official top 40 ever again...Just can't see it happening tbh

Just gotta say RIP the hilariously funny, totally irreplaceable Pete Burns - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) was one of the best dance/pop records of the 80s. I hope we see it return to the top 10 for a third time this Friday. You were a legend Pete, RIP.

hey what's up mates!!! sorry i'm late to the party...i'm so used to the bb day of sunday and mondays when they update their charts. and that's great for little mix!! if they debuted a #1 song over here, not only would they be the 1st uk group to do so, but they'd also be the 1st female group to ever do that.

ok mates, piran and i have had numerous fun discussions about the history of the billboard charts, so i thought i'd bring some fun throwbacks. my subject will be the beatles :). their chart runs are still legendary and they hold many bb chart feats that are still unmatched today. everyone take a look and let me know what you think ;)

Mr Brightside is an awesome song, one of my favourite rock songs from the 2000's so I'm not complaining at all, I was just wondering why and how it's still in after all this time

T

Because, alongside being one of the big classics of our time, it's been featured in high-profile Spotify playlists so it's consistently in the Spotify top 100

It's by far my favourite of all their songs, Hot Fuss is a brilliant album - Somebody Told Me is epic. It's a shame they went slightly downhill with their follow up albums. (Although Human, Read My Mind and When You Were Young are awesome singles too) *I know that doesn't exactly answer your question but I just thought I'd give The Killers some love lol*

I Am A Stegosaurus

The singles from their first album were great, but the second one was okay but after that they went downhill IMO

Loving the top of the chart, Starving climbing to 5 and LM entering at 1 is great and I regularly listen to all the top 5 other than Say You Won't Let Go for the first time in ages. However, it's disappointing Olly Murs is dropping without hitting the top 40, particulary when Love On Me and Controlla are climbing back in.

Brilliant week, so Glad Little Mix are back at number 1. They deserve it, shout out of my ex has been an instant hit on me so im very happy it is at number 1 although i have a feeling we have not seen the last of SYWLG, i think it may return to number 1.
Very happy that Hailee Stienfeld is in the top 5 as Starving is a brilliant song. Hoping that Bruno can stay in the top 10 and increase in streams because 24K Magic i actually really like.
Very interesting, like Piran Delves has pointed out, Drake`s One Dance has been in the top 21 for over 6 months now. That is crazy, bonkers, and to top it off it is climbing in the sales chart again!
The Chainsmokers also seem to be gradually falling which is disappointing because i see alot of people here do not like there new song, i do!
Good to see NEIKED continue to rapidly climb, im positive that Sexual can hit the top 10 next week!
Happy that Fifth Harmony Drake and Galantis are climbing, liking there new ones along with Shawn Mendes, Mercy is a really good laid back song.
Hoping that Clean Bandit, Sean Paul and Anne Marie can chart highly next week as i love there new song although it`s very random combonation. I would also like to see Kideko hit the top 40, Crank it is such a good dance song with an old skool beat.
I hope to god that DRAM and Lil Yachty go out of the top 100, Brocolii has got to be the worse song of the year without question, just an awful song.

Shout out to my ex was not fair to do, Zayn might have done song's about Perrie but he never said all over the media it was about her before release of his music and he was subtle, even Taylor Swift is more subtle, she is an obnoxious selfish woman, and they are just copying the Fifth Harmony sound right down to the video's of convertible cars, the only reason this did so well is the x factor's views have gone up and they dropped Zayn's name, if not for those thing's it'd of dropped like the unoriginal shameless piece of garbage that it is, being blunt.

R

riley

0

I agree with parts of this, they prob did use Zayns name to there advantage and dropped media hints but at the end of the day it has worked. They have got alot of dosh from it and have there 4th number 1

C

chartwatcher

1

Do not get me wrong, I'd of been congratulatory about this number 1 and it's incredible rise to the top in 5 day's, had it not been done on the back of Zayn's misery and Perrie's ego.

C

I don't mind them just not keen on her over this, and I do not know which says it all, but even Taylor Swift has never announced over the media a song is about someone before it is released, it is real dirty play and Perrie Edwards is a no class in your face obnoxious selfish woman and this proves it or just watch a interview.

Piran,

I think most of the songs in the top 40 aren't that good. I don't think streaming has improved the overall standard of songs even if the boss of OSC - Kevin Brown - defends the format.

It's almost criminal that a melodic upbeat song like Parson James' Sad Song can't make the top 40 (or even the top 100) - it has a fantastic chorus! - when there's a lot of inferior stuff streaming well. Meh. Whatever. :(

avatar

Piran

1

Well regarding streaming, I think the quality of the songs in the sales chart are much better than those in the official chart. However I can understand why the OCC want to include streaming, because less people are actually buying songs now than a few years ag0 & just keep pressing a button on a device to hear it instead. It's maybe a choice the OCC didn't want to make, but needed to make. -_-
However I just listened to 'Sad Song' & I completely agree that it should be in the Top 100.

avatar

Calum Pk7

1

Yeah Sad Song's pretty good!!

avatar

Josh Dransfield

2

Well, it's been fun. James Arthur's off number 1, and it looks like it's gonna be another while yet until we get a good number 1. SO2ME is a forced mesh of Ugly Heart and Black Magic, two songs I actually really like.
Starving's a good song. I like it.
Can't say the same for the boring new Maroon 5 song which unfortunately will probably be top 10 next week.
Of the current top 10, I like 2, 4, 5 an 9.
Sexual is ok, I can see why it's doing well, but I just can't like it. It doesn't click with me.
Finally! Dancing On My Own is off the top 10!
Love On Me finally hits the top 40. It should have been there on release: It started off at 13 in sales.

Not a great week, the sooner we get Little Mix off number 1 the better.

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

0

I agree with you, and Maroon 5's new song is actually really boring. Not Niall Horan levels of blandness but it's still a bit rubbish for Maroon 5

avatar

Ricci Tambor

2

Good to see a new number 1, well done to little mix! I don't care for it that much (Black Magic is much better) but at least we have a shorter number 1 reign (for SYWLG) which I think is a good thing - change is good! Also the 2nd consecutive British artist to hit the top, which is brilliant. I think James could possibly return to the summit next week or sometime in the future though. Nice climb for Starving, into the top 5, after quite a slow start it is now gaining the recognition I feel it deserves. Glad to see The Chainsmokers latest single is not doing too well, they are far too overated and All We Know has album filler track written all over it. One final thing I noticed was that the poor man's Robbie Williams - Olly Murs - failed to even break into the Top 50 with his latest karaoke-esque effort. Where are all the Olly Murs fans here? You are un-usually quiet :D

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

3

SYWLG was number 1 for only 3 weeks, which is actually comparably short but it's felt WAY longer than that

C

chartwatcher

2

Their is not much to say about Olly, I usually comment but it is just sad his song's have underperformed, his new song is pleasant enough to deserve a top 10 but 'You Don't Know Love" was criminally under rated, so it is not worth saying anymore about the business, we just wait for 24 HRS which will be massive so it does not matter anyway, on the positive Olly's song has been in the top 40 for 15 week's now surely going on gold and 'Grow Up' did not fall that far back this week.

C

chartwatcher

1

They have completely different style's but perhaps you lack the intelligence to see the obvious large difference's, and what a sad individual you are joking about people's failure's, his album will be massive so the joke's on you and Robbie and Olly are both laughing at you together like the mate's they are.

avatar

Ricci Tambor

0

My point exactly, couldn't have said it better myself : "... was pleasant enough..." That is my problem with Olly Murs, his music is just that, "pleasant." I don't hate the guy or wish him a lifetime of number 51-esque chart positions, he is just rather bland and dull. Heck I even quite like You don't know love, but will I still want to listen to it in say, 5 years time? No, I won't even remember it existed. As for me not being intelligent enough to recognise the different styles of Robbie/Olly, of course they have different styles but ultimately they are both mainstream pop acts (albeit vastly different in terms of total career sales and number of consecutive number 1 albums.) Perhaps OM will go on to have 10+ number 1 albums, who knows. I wish him all the best as he is from Essex just like me lol so you see, I don't hate him haha and I'm sure he wouldn't be to stressed by my comment on his failure to get a hit with his latest release whilst he has probably got more money in the bank than I will earn in my life time. Yay for Olly πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œwhat a guy πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

avatar

Ricci Tambor

1

It's called "my opinion" and I am totally in the right to be able to express it here (that's the whole point of this section.) So despite my apparent lack of intelligence I will continue to express it! I have a HAND ON MY HEART and in fact, ah there it is, MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT as I write this, so DEAR DARLIN', please keep THINKING OF ME but don't get too WRAPPED UP in this, I don't want to fight - it's as if YOU DON'T KNOW LOVE, come on man, I WANNA BE LIKE YOU after all.πŸ’‘β¬…(Me & Olly)

avatar

Ricci Tambor

0

Hahaha yeah I love Olly he's just such an amazingly original fantasticly exciting artist, gotta be up there with the likes of Prince, MJ, Lennon&McCartney.. An absolute LEGEND is Olly Murs.
I jest of course lol tbh I have no feelings for him/his music, he's OK and seems like a nice guy but his music is pretty forgettable (even if I did remember the names of a lot of his more successful songs for my aforementioned post lol) I have his album cover as my profile pic for a joke tbh with ya,( granted its not the funniest joke I've ever come up with πŸ˜—) lol

Parson James' song: Sad Song hasn't hit the top 100 (but it's one of the best pop songs of the year!), perhaps this has a better chance - I reckon this is a great new dance song:

Shout out to my ex enters at number 1, which is a bit stupid because it's about a member of One Direction lol. Guess that's OK but I'm not a huge fan of their music. But still, I'm happy since it is the first song this year to get to number 1 with women as lead vocalists.

Starving has got into the top 5. The music is OK but the vocals are terrible. I'm hoping that it doesn't climb much higher.

I'm happier that Sexual climbs to 12, as I think it's a good song and definitely better than Starving. Ain't My Fault is falling two places this week, which I think is good because I don't think it's a very good song, definitely not good enough to get into the top 10.

I'm really enjoying Don't Wanna Know right now, I hope it can climb next week.

For most of the top 40 songs are falling, but That's My Girl, Love On Me and Mercy are all climbing into the top 40 this week. That's My Girl is definitely much better than most Fifth Harmony music, same for Love On Me and Mercy.

All Night sadly misses out on the top 40 but at least it got into the top 50. Also happy that Waste A Moment breaks into the top 50.

Crank It is an epic song and I hope that in the next few weeks it will get into the top 40, I was listening to it way before it entered the charts.

Kids, Would I Lie To You and Fresh Eyes are all climbing outside the top 50. Currently I'm wondering if any of these songs might hit the top 40.

Also pleased for Mr Brightside which is reaching a new peak in its latest chart run, it's currently at 79, it's also its longest chart run.

avatar

Ricci Tambor

1

I reckon Crank It is gonna climb and climb as Xmas gets closer and will be a hit over the Xmas party season. That's my expert *highly intelligent* prediction there lol 😎

Piran

Yes! Big congratulations to Little Mix for their 4th UK #1 single. It has the best opening week sales of this year so far & it finally puts women back atop the Official Charts for the first time in 2016 as lead artists! Even more impressively, 'Shout Out To My Ex' reached 95,000 combined sales (67,000 from downloads) in just over 4 days! The song is also the 3rd to debut at #1 this year, after Zayn's 'Pillowtalk' & Major Lazer's 'Cold Water'. I'm so pleased for Little Mix though & I'm already a big fan of this new release of theirs. :)
I also like the other 4 debuts in the Top 40 this week: Maroon 5 get their 18th Top 40 hit, Fifth Harmony's tour recently came to the UK (a really good week for groups today!), Galantis have made excellent dance anthems so far & 'Love On Me' is no different, also 'Mercy' by Shawn Mendes is my favourite song from his new album.
It's also definitely great to see 'Starving' jump into the Top 5 this week as well! :D
I noticed that 'One Dance' is down to #21, which the exact same position that it debuted at just over 6 months ago. It was announced earlier this week that it has received over 880 million plays on Spotify, which is now more than any other song has received on this streaming service. It's a decent song, but far too overrated, especially considering it's chart run in the UK.
I don't think there will be too much change for next week, but Clean Bandit's new song could start in the Top 10 & Neiked should also climb into this region as well. Fantastic week for the charts here & I hope we get more like this again soon! ;)

avatar

Maz

2

Hi, Piran, did you remember how much Hello sold when it debuted at no.1 at the time?

avatar

Piran

2

Hey Maz Max! I hope you've had a good week. :)
When 'Hello' debuted at #1 in the UK, it had sold 333,000 combined sales that week (of this figure, 259,000 were downloads).

C

chartwatcher

2

Speaking of Fifth Harmony will their new tribute band Little Mix be opening their UK tour's?

avatar

Maz

2

Thanks, you too.
Is it the biggest first-week single sales in UK Chart ever?
Have you heard Lady Gaga's new album 'Joanne'? It got 65 on Metacritic so far.

avatar

Piran

2

Yeah my week's been OK thanks! :)
Well if we exclude: X Factor or Pop Idol winner's singles, major charity releases, or Christmas #1s, then Adele's 'Hello' is the 2nd fastest selling song of the 21st century (with a total of 333,000 combined sales), however Shaggy's 'It Wasn't Me' was able to sell 345,000 in it's debut week in February 2001. :D
I've not heard Lady Gaga's new album just yet, as I've had an extremely busy week. I know Jstar is going to be telling me all about it on the BB200 article though, as he is a massive fan of hers! So is the Metacritic rating for it 65/100? If so, then that's certainly decent. ;)

avatar

Ricci Tambor

2

Biggest first week sales ever in the UK is the 1997 double A sided single "Something About The Way You Look Tonight/Candle In The Wind '97" by Elton John, which has first day sales of 650,000, first week sales in excess of 1.5 million and total sales of 4.9 million making it the biggest selling single since records began in the UK.

Piran

2

Thanks & I completely agree with your thoughts. Regarding 'Broccoli', I'm on the Billboard discussion forum & that song is currently Top 10 in the US! I really hope it doesn't become a hit over here... I can't stand it. -_-
I also wish The Vamps & Kideko were able to enter the Top 40 this week, but other than that, this is an awesome chart!

Yea, i checked the BBH100 on wednesday. have no idea how it is in the top 10 awful. And im very surprised hat th vamps haven't hit the top 40

Really like it, it`s such a random combination aswell. I think it will debut in the top 15 somewhere, what do you think?

C

chartwatcher

0

It was a joke I am saying their new sound is like a clone of Fifth Harmony right down to the pastiche music video's of convertible cars, if not for the high x factor views and dropping Zayn's name it'd of flopped for the unoriginal garbage it is, but then again they got to sell their music some way, but Perrie Edwards comes across very selfish and obnoxious, Zayn never dropped her name in the media before a sing and he was subtle even Taylor Swift is more subtle, horrid woman, and horrid music.

avatar

Ricci Tambor

2

Lmao fifth harmony tribute band πŸ˜‰

avatar

Piran

2

Yeah there's a good variety of genres here: Clean Bandit with classical/dance, Sean Paul with rap/reggae & Anne-Marie with pop. I think a Top 15 debut sounds about right & I hope it does so as well. :)
Do you think 'Crank It [Woah]' will make the Top 40 then? I hear it on almost every radio station I listen to!

C

chartwatcher

0

Do not get me wrong here Piran I do not hate Little Mix but I think Perrie Edwards has been a bit mean dropping the name of Zayn Malik before the song, he never did that to her before a particular song, it charted on the back of his misery and her shallow nasty ego, regardless it is impressive after 5 day's of sale's and the fact it showed 14 in the mid week, it is a smash and a sleeper hit, most likely due to the higher x factor views, my personal critique though is it is a bit Fifth Harmony like lacking originality, but it seems to do the job and you can't blame them for copying a working style, do you think it will hold next week Piran? I think 'Starving' or Clean Bandit's new song 'Rockabye' could be strong contender's for the top spot.

R

riley

1

Im not sure it can hit the top 40. streams i don`t think will pick up enough :(

avatar

Piran

0

Yeah I completely understand what you're trying to say... I just love 'Shout Out To My Ex' though. I didn't really like Little Mix at first, but I'm definitely a fan of their newer music.
Regarding next week, I think 'Starving' will stay in the Top 5 & Clean Bandit should debut in the Top 10. Little Mix are extremely likely to get #1 again next week; sales for SOTME are dropping slightly, but the lead it has on iTunes is still huge. It's also growing fast on streaming.

avatar

Piran

0

It also looks like 'Luv' by Tory Lanez & 'Kids' by OneRepublic have missed their chance at the Top 40 as well. :/
I also see 'Juju On Dat Beat' debuted in the Top 100 this week & I have a bad feeling that this will become a hit. -_-
On a positive note, it looks like 'Rockabye' & 'Sexual' have reached the Top 5 on iTunes. :)

Is that really what's come of Little Mix- a supporting act!! HA-HA!!!

avatar

Piran

Yeah but Little Mix have only had 2 minor hits in the US so far, so that's where they're going to try & gain some more recognition. What do you think of their new song then? :)

C

chartwatcher

Thanks, I have read some of your comment's and I agree they are using a more US commercial sound to garner some larger success their, and I predict this will be pretty huge their when the billboard changes on this Tuesday, I suppose a change in sound keeps thing's interesting, and I guess any good artist keeps up with the time and adapts and apart from the mean stigma attached to it, it is growing on me and not that bad a song to its credit, I just have this odd strong feeling it will behave excactly like 'Pillowtalk' and chart a single week here and top the US for a single week on debut, I just have this feeling, remember this we will see if it comes true.

avatar

Piran

0

Well I also look the Billboard Hot 100 chart each week & actually do most of my commenting there as well. From the predictions that I'm following, Little Mix will definitely not be debuting at #1 in the US & might barely manage to reach the Top 100 at all, but the predictions will update again tomorrow. I think it will eventually be a bigger hit than 'Black Magic' was there (it peaked at #67 in the US). :)
I still don't get why Little Mix wouldn't release SOTME last Friday though, but I have a feeling they may even make it to 4 weeks at #1 UK in my opinion.

Little mix owns the record for the biggest tour by a girl group in this decade, and last year they had the biggest U.K. Arena tour of the year aswell, more than 400K tickets sold and just yesterday in under 10 Hours they sold 200K tickets for their next year UK tour. While Fifth harmony flopping with their current tour & no where to be found in those list. :) and when it comes about Zayn funny he couldn't help himself either from flopping, even tho his album was a total diss for Perrie.

So happy shout out to my ex hit number one, it debuted in the top 20 in Australia as well I really love it (and don't really find it to different to their other stuff especially move and black magic)

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

1

I agree that Kids should have hit the top 40, but Luv? That's a contender for the worst song of the year. It makes Sweatshirt look like Party Rock Anthem. I know I use those comparisons a lot but I think it's a pretty relevant description

avatar

Calum Pk7

1

Yeah it's good- I did say it would grow on me and it has!

avatar

Calum Pk7

What do you mean 5h nowhere to be seen? they're at 31, 61 & 81!!

C

chartwatcher

Who care's US is where it is at and they are lacking their compared to other groups and it is more populous their with the public, and his album hit number 1 on both sides so hardly a flop but perhaps you lack the intelligence to conceive the obvious, and he never stated a song was about anyone over the whole media before its release even Taylor Swift does not do that, Perrie is a repulsive woman, but seeing that you are 1 yourself that is probably why you make these nasty comments and I am sure talking logic and the truth to you here is a waste of time as you will do whatever your lack of a social conscience and twisted logic guides your mind to do.

avatar

Piran

0

I'm pleased to hear that you like it! Do you think it will climb above #16 in Australia then? :)

avatar

Piran

0

Yeah 'Kids' is my favourite song from OneRepublic's new album. :)
Well 'Broccoli' & 'Juju On Dat Beat' are in the Top 100 now, so they are the worst songs of the year for me!

avatar

Piran

0

I'm pleased to hear that you're starting to like it now! :)
How long do you think it will be #1 for then?

avatar

Calum Pk7

1

At least a month- it has massive lead on iTunes and is now no.1 on Spotify by a long way.

avatar

Piran

0

That would make SOTME Little Mix's longest #1 hit then & I sure hope you're right! :)
Yeah I can see it selling like 2.5x more than SYWLG on the latest Kworb download updates.

R

riley

0

I disagree Piran. I don`t know why but i have a very big feeling that James Arthur will be returning to number 1. I hope not but i have a strong suspicion this is not the last we have seen of him at number 1

R

riley

1

Yea sweatshirt is awful but Piran is right. have you heard Broccoli? It is just awful. god knows how it is so big in the us

avatar

Ebony

1

Yeah I think it will, both hair and black magic went top 10 and it's currently number 2 on iTunes.

avatar

Piran

0

Hmm... interesting. I just don't see it happening myself, but I guess we'll have to wait & see. You'll be pleased to know that I just heard 'Rockabye' for the 1st time & it sounds awesome. So what are your thoughts on the rest of Clean Bandit's music then? :)

avatar

Piran

0

Do you think it could even become a future #1 in Australia then? I'm hoping for it to reach 4 weeks here in the UK, because that would make SOTME Little Mix's longest #1 single in their home country! :)

avatar

Ebony

1

Probably not, I don't expect higher then top 5 but if it does then it will be their first number 1 here.

avatar

Piran

0

Well I'll still be happy for Little Mix if SOTME goes Top 5 in Australia. Have you seen the video yet then? :)

avatar

Ebony

1

It will definitely go top 5, it should enter the top 10 next week. Yeah I have it's alright I like the black magic and hair videos better.

R

riley

1

Dunno i just really think James has a chance of returning to number 1. There is always one artist that does it every year and it hasn`t happened this year yet. Rockabye is my favorite song right now, it is SO good and i think it has a massive chance of going straight into the top 10. Hope Anne Marie can get her first top 10 hit aswell and Sean Paul and Clean bandit get there 2nd. Funnily enough, im not actually a massive fan of Clean Bandit, i don`t like any of there songs with Jess but this year they have been a breath of fresh air there new stuff. Shame about one of the members of the band leaving tho.

avatar

Ricci Tambor

0

Rather Be by clean bandit was fantastic!

avatar

Piran

1

Yeah I'm disappointed that Neil left the band, but I've always loved every one of Clean Bandit's songs. :)
Also 'Sexual' & 'Love On Me' grew a lot on me today as well. The former should definitely be in the Top 10 next week & I think 'Rockabye' should also enter this region. :D
I might have already asked you this, but what has been your favourite album of 2016 so far? ;)

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

0

No I haven't, but the US are suckers for joke songs. Sure, songs like #SELFIE performed better over here, but then look at the likes of Watch Me and Harlem Shake. God the US have awful taste

R

riley

1

tbh i don`t really buy albums. i mainly make them on blank cds. if i had to choose one maybe drake? iv`e listened to the hole of views and i like alot of his songs on that album

avatar

Piran

0

Yeah I've bought 'Views' as well & I liked most of the 20 songs from it. It took me a while to get through it though! ;) LOL
My favourite album of the year is either JB's 'Purpose' or Adele's '25'. Of the entire decade, mine is easily Taylor Swift's '1989'.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

hey mate!!! so, this is updated each friday? i'll have to remember that...i'll bring more throwbacks over here in the coming wks. :)

avatar

Piran

2

Yeah that's right & you can access this chart from 9:45am your time on every Friday. :)
Hopefully the rest of the commenters here will appreciate your throwbacks like I do.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

2

well, i just don't know how big the beatles still are in the uk compared to their u.s. success. i'll put up the 200 chart throwbacks up for this coming friday. i'm still editing their hot 100 feats.

oh you know how i love elvis' gospel music so much? he did 3 gospel albums in his career and 'how great thou art' only peaked @ #18!! i saw that when i was reviewing the beatles 200 chart runs (and believe it or not, the chart was actually 150 entries)

avatar

Piran

1

Well over here The Beatles had 17 #1s & 28 Top 10s for singles. As for albums, they had 15 #1s & 32 Top 10s. That means that they nearly matched their US success here in the UK. :)
Also, thanks for posting your throwbacks. I've definitely missed them.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

2

well, that's good ;). i'd hate to post up all that research and hardly nobody likes them LOL! and yeah sorry mate, you know my situation the past month :/ but i'll have more throwbacks up :). i was thinking of bringing all my past throwbacks over here :D like with j5, the bodyguard soundtrack, little mix's bdays (even yours), 1D's birthday's etc.

avatar

Piran

1

Well let's see if the throwbacks get a good reaction on the UK comments thread. If not, then you can always just repost them on the Hot 100 & BB200 articles. :)
Oh I've already posted my 1st list a few minutes if you haven't already responded to it.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

2

sounds good...i also thought maybe uk chart fans would be interested on past bb feats that are still legendary. remember when were discussing the beatles 200 chart feats...97-1!! :D still gave me a heart attack when i was reviewing them earlier today. can you imagine if an album did that today?

avatar

Piran

1

Yeah albums climbing the BB200 are really unheard of these days. That's probably because, unlike the Hot 100, radio doesn't have any affect on that chart. It would be awesome to see something like that happen today though! :)
So has everything finally calmed down on the Lady Gaga article, or are things still very tense there?

avatar

Ricci Tambor

1

Hey there sunshine gal, do u like Elvis, in general? If so, did u hear any of his new album of orchestral versions of his best songs yet? It looks very likely that it is going to beat Lady Gaga to the top spot here in the UK this Friday. I have the first album they released a while ago which features an Orchestral version of " I can't help falling in love " and and it's great ☺

avatar

Dan Love

1

Juju's cool but i agree totally on broccoli

avatar

Piran

1

Do you think either can become a hit in the UK then?

avatar

Dan Love

1

Juju was climbing to 67 in the update, so I think it could become a hit because of the dance a bit like Whip Nae Nae, but Broccoli won't become a hit unless it somehow goes viral here.

avatar

Piran

0

Well I'd definitely prefer 'Juju...' to 'Broccoli'. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if 'Juju' becomes as big as 'Watch Me [Whip/Nae Nae].
It's great to see 'Sexual' reach the Top 10 on the Monday update & that 'Rockabye' should also debut in this region. I also like 'Mercy', so it's great to see it could potentially go Top 20. :)
I see Kings Of Leon & Kideko potentially entering the Top 40, but while I would love both of them to enter, I just have a feeling that it's not going to happen.

avatar

Sunshine Gal

1

hey ricci! are you kidding me? that's my guy right there :). are you talking about the album with the royal philharmonic orchestra? i haven't gotten it yet, but i'm crazy about all his gospel music, i listen to it all the time. unfortunately bb doesn't have his early chart feats stored :(. since his red-hot era was in 1955 and the hot 100 came about in 1958, there's no way to see his early chart history...believe it or not, he was notching top 10's, #1's, gold records @ a very fast pace back then. (In 1958 he would've been inducted in the army)

you should check out his gospel music, i have the 'elvis ultimate gospel' cd and it's amazing. he loved his gospel music the best of all his songs :)

Wow, a lot of chart activity this week!

-A number one debut, that's always fun.
-Hailee Steinfeld and Grey's first top 10, congrats!
-Sexual cuts its distance to the top in half, and Don't Wanna Know makes the top 20 in its first frame; I wonder if either of them are making it to the top 10 eventually?
-I thought That's My Girl would get stuck in limbo like it's doing in the US, but it looks like it finally makes a jump to the top 40.
-Always happy with Galantis making it to the top 40; this is their fourth so far.
-Shawn Mendes also climbs in; of his calmer songs, I'd say this is one of his better (for more energy, I prefer "Stitches" or "Something Big").

avatar

Paul Mount

A lot of chart activity? You jest, surely? Up1, down 2, up 2, down 2, up 1, down 1....it's pathetic. the chart should be fast, furious, non-stop...and with a sight more varfety than all this bland, heated-up r'n'b.dance . Where are the proper pop stars, for God's sake???

C

I know the new chart topper is awful and Perrie Edwards is ghastly.

SH

Scott Harris

2

Yes! Little Mix are the very first female artists to lead the UK chart this year! They debuted at number 1 with only 5 days of sales, that's incredible, so happy for them! I can see them lasting at the top spot for more than 3 weeks! Congrats, girls!

C

Hopefully not!

Please go away.

Exactly so shut it.

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

1

To be fair, if it out-runs Black Magic I wouldn't mind as that's one of the worst songs of last year

avatar

Dan Love

1

I hope they fall next week as well

C

chartwatcher

Little Mix was okay until they decided they wanted to be the Perrie Edward's backing band to that in your face no class blonde bimbo for her ex agenda, and their new song has them sounding like a Fifth Harmony tribute act with the rapped verses and tinny beats, awful I am sorry I thought their sound from last year suited them way better, she was so not bothered about what Zayn did that she went and wrote a whole song about it, okay then, yawn waste of the top spot really.

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

1

They sucked all along musically. All their songs except Secret Love Song are ear-bleeders

C

chartwatcher

1

I get this small feeling you do not like Little Mix haha.

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

1

No, and trust me, I'm not a bandwagon saying it just because they're at the top, I've hated them since Black Magic became an irritation. It's good that Say You Won't Let Go only had a three-week run at number 1, but now Little Mix are gonna be number 1 for god knows how long

avatar

Ricci Tambor

0

I actually really like Secret Love Song, I was surprised it didn't do better or even get to number 1,and I am certainly no 'mixer' lol but I just thought it was a good song

avatar

I Am A Stegosaurus

That was basically my point. I was really surprised when I found out it was by Little Mix
