BANGLES

The Bangles are an American pop rock band that formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1981. The Bangles’ classic line-up consisted of founding members; lead vocalist and guitarist Susanna Hoffs (born in Los Angeles on January 17, 1959), drummer and vocalist Debbi Peterson (born August 22, 1961 in Los Angeles) and lead guitarist and vocalist Vicki Peterson (born January 11, 1958 in Los Angeles), together with bassist Michael Steele (born Susan Nancy Thomas on June 2, 1955 in Pasadena), who replaced original bassist Annette Zilinskas (born November 6, 1962 in Los Angeles) and has since been replaced by Zilinskas herself. The Bangles built up a string of hit songs, with the Prince-penned Manic Monday, Walk Like An Egyptian and the 1989 UK Official Singles Chart Number 1 Eternal Flame. The Bangles won the Best International Act BRIT Award in 1987 and went on hiatus in 1989, and reconvened in 2000. Image: Fotex/Shutterstock
