Showaddywaddy are a rock and roll group from Leicester, England, first formed in 1973, originally consisting of drummer Malcolm "Duke" Allured (born August 27, 1945, Leicester), lead vocalist Dave Bartram (born March 23, 1952, Leicester), guitarist Russ Field (born James Lewis Russell Field, September 1, 1949, Berwick-upon-Tweed), vocalist Buddy Gask (born William George Gask, December 18, 1945, Leicester, died June 7, 2011, Spain), bassist Al James (born Geoffrey Betts, January 13, 1946, Leicester, died November 16, 2018), guitarist Trevor Oakes (born September 9, 1946, Leicester), bassist Rod Deas (born February 13, 1948, Scarborough) and drummer Romeo Challenger (born May 19, 1950, St John's, Antigua, West Indies). Showaddywaddy made their showbiz debut when they appeared on TV talent show New Faces in 1973, giving them their first chart entry with the song Hey Rock & Roll in 1974. Showaddywaddy enjoyed a string of hit songs throughout the 1970s including the UK Official Singles Chart Number 1 Under The Moon Of Love in 1976 and a UK Official Albums Chart Number 1 in 1979 with Greatest Hits (1976-1978).
