WHEN WE COLLIDE
by MATT CARDLE

When Matt Cardle was announced as the winner of the seventh series of The X Factor, beating out Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction (wonder whatever happened to them?) he also helped to restore the then-customary tradition of winners claiming the UK Official Christmas Number 1.

Debut single When We Collide was a cover of Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro’s Many Of Horror, which had originally reached Number 20 in January 2010. When We Collide was produced by Richard Biff Stannard and sold 439,000 in its first week to leap into the top spot for three weeks.
