Sick and tired of Ed Sheeran and JB's song now. Sorry.

Why is it when a song enters the chart for the first time the peak position is shown as 0?

I think the Peak Positions actually show the peaks from the end of week charts (Friday) rather than the midweek chart (Monday) for some reason.

Liam Gallagers new Single Shockwave dropped very badly this week from 9- 59 in comparison to last week midweek charts.

I thought there might be a bit more movement this week, especially with both 'Old Town Road' & 'Someone You Loved' looking to be placed on ACR.
I'm excited about the gain for 'Mad Love', but I was definitely expecting the two Drake tracks to do much better!

Hi piran, it's me again. Still not that much of a big fan of i don't care but warmed up to it a little so might think differently about it next week. Sad to see old town Road go on acr. That's become of my favourite songs released recently and definitely deserved a longer time at the top spot. Someone you loved is also going on acr. So shocked as I've become so use to it being in the top 10. There was a time I thought it would never leave. I do like it a bit tho. Not that much of a fan of mabel but I'm also warming up to mad love. Ive started to like wish you well but don't think it's number 1 worthy yet. I haven't heard Taylor swifts new song. I was actually surprised to learn she had only 1 uk number 1! But 100% sure she'll earn another even if it isn't from her new album.

Hey Tony! How are you doing? :)
I agree with you on both 'I Don't Care' & 'Old Town Road'. I'm glad the former is growing on you, since it seems on track to become the biggest song of 2019 at this rate. As for the latter, it might've only got two weeks at #1, but it did spend like a total of at least seven weeks at #2, so it's still had a really good run!
'Mad Love' & 'Wish You Well' are certainly growers, but yeah, I'd agree that neither are deserving of going all the way to #1. If that did happen, I certainly wouldn't mind too much though.
What's even more crazy about Taylor's chart history is that her first major charting hit was 'Love Story' all the way back in 2008-09, but she didn't get a #1 single until 'Look What You Made Me Do' in 2017! She's also peaked at #2 three times in total.

It will be interseting to see becuase of the 3 artist per song rule on the chart, to see if "someone you loved" will be replaced by Bruises instead of Grace replacing it all the time.

It would indeed be weird if those three songs kept dropping out & re-entering, haha.
That said, even with 'Someone You Loved' going on ACR, I still don't think it'll fall far enough to drop below either 'Grace' nor 'Bruises' for now.

Despite only being #47 in the update, I definitely expect 'Money In The Grave' to be making a Top 10 debut at least in the final chart. It's #9 on Spotify and #1 on Apple Music at the minute. 'Omertà' will probably also debut higher than #37, since it's #47 on Spotify and #16 on Apple Music. To be honest, it does look like this update is missing significant data from streaming, since neither 'Bounce Back' or 'You Need To Calm Down' have done well enough on any streaming service to warrant #2 & #3 debuts, though based on sales alone it definitely looks like those would be the right positions.
Also, unrelated, what do you think of the 'No. 6 Collaborations Project' tracklist? From the looks of it we're going to be getting some major hits from the album; the tracklist looks like something that a superfan would make up as their perfect tracklist haha! Eminem, Stormzy, Dave, J Hus, Camila Cabello, Bruno Mars... it's going to be insane.

I guess only time will tell :)

It will indeed! :D
I wonder if Lewis Capaldi will get any more new entries when say, 'Hold Me While You Wait', goes on ACR. If so, it would be remind me of what happened with 'The Greatest Showman' soundtrack.
His album is definitely one of the more interesting to follow in terms of the chart runs for each single!

Yeah, the Official Chart Update has always had a bit of a habit of overestimating songs with good sales & underestimating songs with good streaming. Remember, that with Drake's two new songs, they were both released on Saturday, so they had a day less tracking than all other new entries this week.
The tracklist looks amazing! I'm most excited for: 'Beautiful People', 'South Of The Border', 'Take Me Back To London', 'Remember The Name', 'Put It All On Me', 'Way To Break My Heart' & 'Blow'! I have a feeling that this album is going to be absolutely huge, probably the biggest of 2019 & it might set opening figures close to what '÷' did. Even though there are less grime songs on this than I expected, it's probably the best chance the genre will ever get to have its spotlight outside of the UK.
Hey, did you hear about the new Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello collaboration dropping this Friday? :D

Foxes

Personally I'd say I'm most excited for 'South of the Border' w/ Camila, 'Take Me Back to London' w/ Stormzy, 'Antisocial' w/ Travis, 'Remember The Name' w/ Eminem, 'Feels' w/ J Hus, 'Nothing on You' w/ Dave & 'Blow' w/ Bruno! Though it annoys me far more than it probably should that 'South of the Border', a collaboration between Ed & Camila which has been my most wanted collaboration quite possibly ever, also has Cardi B thrown in there for no reason. I want to hold off judgement until I hear the track, but I just don't see how Cardi could do anything but make the song worse. It's not like she can't make good songs, 'Bartier Cardi' and 'Wish Wish' are perfect examples of that, but those are the more rap songs that wouldn't work well with Ed & especially not Camila. I think it's far more likely that she'll do the kind of pop-rap that we heard on 'Girls Like You' and 'Finesse', and I really dislike that. For me, the original versions of those songs are MUCH better than the remixes. I would've much much preferred for 'South of the Border' to just be Ed & Camila.
As for sales, of course there's a very high chance that this album will be the biggest of 2019 despite the late start and an even higher chance that it'll have the biggest opening week, but I don't think it'll match '÷'. My predictions would be around 300k - 400k opening week figures for the UK compared to 672k for '÷'. It could potentially beat '÷'s streaming record, though. However, in the US I can see it debuting with around 500k sales, which would beat the 451k opening week sales of '÷'!
Of course I've heard of Shawn & Camila's collab now, but, yeah, I heard about it a few days ago as well. I really like that Shawn & Camila are finally doing a collab together again, even if I don't think 'Señorita' is nearly as good as 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'.

Piran

Hey Gameskiller! :)
Yeah, I agree that a collaboration between Ed & Camila alone would work, as well as one between Ed & Cardi, but Cardi & Camila being on the same song does seem like a weird fit.
With Cardi, I've only been lukewarm on her with her own music, but she actually improved both 'Girls Like You' & 'Finesse' with the remixes for me personally.
That seems like a reasonable prediction for the opening figure for both the UK & the US. It appears like we're getting one more single before the album release on the 12th though & that's 'Beautiful People' with Khalid (out next Friday).
I actually prefer 'Senorita' to 'I Know What You Did Last Summer', but both are awesome songs! I just love the chemistry that Shawn & Camila have!

Even though 'Beautiful People' isn't one of my most anticipated tracks from 'No. 6 Collaborations Project', I am definitely looking forward to it next Friday! Khalid is a reasonably big artist on my charts, with 2 #1s, 4 Top 10s and 16 chart entries to his name, as well as #3 and #2 peaking albums that spent 7 weeks in the Top 5 between them. I think 'Beautiful People' has a good chance of giving him a 5th Top 10 as well!
For me, 'Señorita' is of course still really good, probably a light-solid 9/10 for now, but it's extremely hard for any song to compete with 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' for me. It's a very strong 10/10, and is my https://crownnote.com/charts/gameskiller01/my-favourite-songs-of-all-time!

avatar

Piran

Yeah, it's not one of my most anticipated ones either, but I still iike Khalid too. I wonder what vocal style Ed will take if he's working alongside an soulful R&B singer?
Your Top 10 is mostly what I would've expected, except I completely missed 'Invincible' for some reason, haha!
It's not an all-time chart, but here is my overall Crown Note leaderboard (since 22 October 2016): https://crownnote.com/leaderboard/Piran%20Delves
We're still waiting for you to give a 100/100 album then, although 'Beerbongs & Bentleys' got very close! :D

Have you heard 'Invincible' then? Since it was released in 2013 it hasn't had as big of an impact on my charts as it would've had it been released after I started making them in May 2017, but even so it's still managed to peak at #2 in June 2017 and spent a total of 25 weeks on the chart, most recently appearing in the chart dated 30th March, 2018!
It's definitely a surprise for me to see 'Shed a Light' atop your CrownNote leaderboard, though I guess that's to be expected since it fell out of your charts in April 2017, before I started making charts or checking out yours, and only re-appeared for 1 more week in November 2017! The rest of the leaderboard is pretty much what I would've expected, though I would've expected 'Don't Feel like Crying' to be higher than 'Strangers'. I do find it quite interesting that your #1 song on there only has just under 150k points, whereas 'Bloodstream' has over 300k points for me and 'God is a woman' has around 275k (though the former has spent 110 weeks on my chart so far and the latter spent 10 weeks at #1 with 44 weeks in the Top 10 so far, so I guess that's not surprising). In fact, it's only when you get to 'Quit' at #8 with 115k that it goes below your #1! I guess the songs that I really love tend to spend longer on my charts, especially near the top, than songs do on your charts.
If any album were to get 100/100 for me, it would need to be insanely good. I think every track on it would need to be at least a 92/100 or something, and it would also need to have the same kind of insane longevity as 'beerbongs & bentleys' did for me (18 consecutive weeks at #1, with 25 in total, and 55 consecutive weeks in the Top 5, with 59 in total so far). For some albums I grow tired of some of the tracks or even the whole album quite quickly, for example with 'Camila', while I still absolutely love the album, 'Inside Out' in particular has fallen significantly for me since the album came out. But with 'beerbongs & bentleys', I still enjoy the album as much today as I did when I first heard it, if not more! Any album that could beat it would need to be unbelievably good, given that my ratings of 'beerbongs & bentleys' tracks would look like this:

1) '92 Explorer' - 100/100
2) 'rockstar' - 100/100
3) 'Same es' - 99/100
4) 'Better Now' - 98/100
5) 'Otherside' - 97/100
6) 'Blame It On Me' - 96/100
7) 'Over Now' - 96/100
8) 'Paranoid' - 94/100
9) 'Rich & Sad' - 93/100
10) 'Zack And Codeine' - 93/100
11) 'Candy Paint' - 92/100
12) 'Spoil My Night' - 90/100
13) 'Sugar Wraith' - 90/100
14) 'Stay' - 89/100
15) 'Psycho' - 88/100
16) 'Ball For Me' - 88/100
17) 'Takin' Shots' - 87/100

I haven't actually, probably because I never saw it in your Crown Note charts. If it's among your Top 10 songs of all-time, then I'll certainly have to give it a listen! :D
'Shed A Light' was #1 for me very early on when I started Crown Note & while you wouldn't have been tracking it on my charts at the time, it spent five weeks at #1 & became the biggest song of 2018, as well as spending at least five months inside the Top 40! I was expecting my Top 10 to be a lot closer together, but I didn't know that your #7 had more cumulative points than my #1! That's probably because my playlist rotates songs a lot quicker & your #1s tend to be longer than mine. I'd have thought 'Body' would've been easily top for me, since that managed seven weeks to tie 'Uptown Funk' & 'Can't Stop The Feeling' as the longest #1 song of the decade!
Like you, there's no album that reaches 100/100 for me, but the following would probably at least 95/100: 'Fearless' by Taylor Swift, 'Progress' by Take That, 'Camila' by Camila Cabello, 'Sucker Punch' by Sigrid, 'True' & 'Stories' by Avicii, 'Hello My Name Is...' by Bridgit Mendler & probably 'The Greatest Showman' soundtrack (sorry!).

I'd definitely recommend giving 'Invincible' a listen; it's a rap/pop track that tackles a pretty serious subject matter with pretty deep lyrics, and quite a powerful and haunting hook. Kind of similar to 'River' actually, though the songs themselves don't actually sound that similar.
To be fair, 'Body' isn't really that far behind 'Shed a Light' on your leaderboard, only 11k points. Another few weeks in the Top 10, or just 1 more week at #1, could've easily pushed it to #1 overall.
No need to be sorry for having 'The Greatest Showman' as one of your favourite albums haha! Just because I dislike it doesn't mean other people have to as well! Of course I really love 'Camila' as well, and I do really like 'True' & 'Stories'. The rest of those albums would just be OK for me, not bad, but nothing special either.

avatar

Piran

1

I'll check it out before the next chart gets released on Friday & let you know what I think of it! :D
Yeah, Crown Note awards 10k to songs at #1, so 'Body' probably could've been #1 overall if it had reached eight weeks at #1 for me.
Haha, I know, but I knew 'The Greatest Showman' would be by far your least favourite there. I'm glad that you agree with Camila's debut album & the two Avicii ones! Speaking of the former, based on her Twitter comments, her second one seems to be essentially almost done!
Also, did you see the chart update for this week? It looks like one you're going to love.
