MC HAMMER

MC Hammer was born Stanley Kirk Burrell on March 30, 1962 in Oakland, California, and is an American rapper, dancer, record producer and entrepreneur. MC Hammer started entertaining when he was hired as a teenage batboy by the Oakland Athletics baseball team, where he’d impress the crowd with his acrobatic flair. MC Hammer then started a Christian rap group called Holy Ghost Boys, creating Contemporary Christian music's first ever rap hit. MC Hammer’s big crossover came when he signed to Capitol Records and released his third album Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em which spent a whopping 21 weeks at Number 1 in the Billboard 200 chart, and was the home of his biggest song U Can’t Touch This. MC Hammer became a minister in the late 1990s and continues this while releasing new music. Image: Michael Buxbaum/Shutterstock
